1 Peter 3-5

3 1In the same manner, you wives, be submissive to your husbands, [so that if they are unbelievers] they may be won by your behavior, 2while observing your [pure and virtuous] conduct [to God and husband] coupled with reverence; 3don't let your [righteousness] be just in outward appearances, like braiding your hair, wearing gold or putting on [pretty] clothes. 4Instead let it be the hidden human of the heart [for God} which is incorruptible, even adorning a [humble] and quiet spirit, which, in God's sight, is of great price.

5In this same way, in the old days, the holy women, who trusted God, adorned themselves and were in submission to their husbands. 6Like Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; you are the daughters of [her seed] as long as your [behavior is praiseworthy] and your aren't afraid [of criticism]. (of criticism is totally my own interpretation of what God was saying to me). 7In the same way, you husbands, [reside; abide] with them according to knowledge [of the law], giving honor to your wife, as unto a [physically] weaker [and chosen] vessel, because you are heirs TOGETHER of the [favor] of [eternal] life and your prayers won't be hindered.

8Lastly, all of you be of one mind, being compassionate toward one another, love as brethren, be tenderhearted and courteous [humble minded]. 9Don't repay evil for evil or reproach and slander for reproach and slander, but on the contrary, return blessings, knowing that you are called to this and will receive a blessing.

Note: The Christian life isn't for the weak hearted or cowardly!

10Those of you who want to love life and see good days, refrain your mouth from speaking [deceit and treachery]. 11[Shun; avoid] evil and do good; seek peace, in fact, pursue it! 12Because the eyes of the Lord are [watching] over the [innocent, just and holy] and His ears are open to their prayers; but the Lord's face is turned from those who do evil.

13And who will harm you if you are zealous followers of [Jesus example]. 14However, if you suffer for the sake of righteousness, you should rejoice, and not fear their [criticism] or be troubled. 15But [regard Christ as sacred] in your hearts and always have your answers ready with humbleness and reverence for those who ask why you have hope. 16If they speak evil of you, as though you were evil doers, your conscience is good and they may be ashamed for falsely accusing your good [behavior] in Christ. 17If God so wills, it is better to suffer for well doing than for evil doing.

18Because Christ once suffered, unjustly, for sins, to bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh and made alive by the Spirit. 19By the Holy Spirit He also went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20who were, in the days of Noah, disobedient, and the long suffering of God waited while the ark was preparing, inside of which, 8 souls were brought safely by water. 21An example [of the ceremony of] baptism that saves us, now, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (not by putting away filthy flesh but a [question] of a good conscience toward God), 22who's gone into heaven and is on the right hand of God, angels, authorities and powers are [under obedience] to Him.

41Because Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, then arm yourselves too with the same willingness; because he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2that he won't live the rest of his days in the flesh to the lusts of men but [rather] to the will of God.

3Because our past life may [be enough] to have [accomplished] the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in [lustful desires; drunkenness; riotous feasts; bouts of drinking; and violating divine law] 4[causing others] to think it's strange [you no longer join in] and speak evil of you; 5[and] will give [an] accounting to Him that is ready to judge the living [believers] and the dead [unbelievers]. 6That's why the gospel was preached to the dead [unbelievers] that they might be [sentenced] [just as] men in the flesh but live [just as] god in the spirit.

7But [the Lord is coming soon] so be sober and watchful, praying. 8Above all things have [a fierce] love among yourselves; because love will cover a multitude of sins. 9Be hospitable to one another without [malice; ill will; envy or reluctance]. 10Since every man has received his free gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards [managers] of the manifold grace of God. 11If any man speaks let him speak as God's prophet, if a man ministers let him do it in God given ability so God is glorified in ALL things through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (So be it). 12Beloved, don't think fiery trials, that test you, are strange or [be bewildered by them], 13Rather, rejoice, because you are partakers of Christ's suffering, so when His glory is revealed, you may have exalted joy. 14If you are reproached for the name of Christ, be happy, because the Spirit of God and glory rests on you, they speak evil of Him and you glorify Him.

15[Don't suffer as doing wrong], 16but suffer because you are a Christian, and you won't be ashamed and will glorify God. 17The time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God (us) and if it begins with us first, what will befall those who don't obey the gospel of God? 18And if the [innocent] [are not easily] saved [where does this leave] the ungodly and the [unbeliever]. 19So, let them that suffer [on the strength and authority] of the will of God [commend] their souls to Him as to a faithful creator.

51I appeal to the elders among you, I'm also an elder, a witness of the sufferings of Christ and a partaker of the glory that will be revealed, 2Feed God's flock that are among you, willingly take the overseeing of it, without [being forced], not for selfish gain but [eagerly]. 3Not as a [high minded ruler] over God's heritage but as examples to the flock. 4And when the Chief Shepherd appears you'll receive a crown of glory that won't fade away.

5In the same way, you [that are] younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, ALL of you be subject [serving] one another in humility, because God sets Himself against the proud and gives grace to the humble. 6So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God so He may exalt you in due time, 7casting all your cares on Him because He cares for you.

8Be sober and watchful because your enemy, the devil, is walking about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9Resist him [firmly with] faith, knowing that the same afflictions [trouble] your brethren that are in the world.

10However, the God of all grace has called us to His eternal glory by Jesus Christ, after your suffering makes you [complete] [confirms; secures; strengthens and grounds] you. 11To Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, I have written briefly, [advising] and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

13The church in Babylon, elected together with you, greets you and so does my son, Mark. 14Greet each other with a kiss of greeting. Peace to all of you that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
