1st John 4-5
1st John 1-3
41Beloved, don't believe every spirit but test (prove; discern) the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2(Here is how) you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that (professes; declares) that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God; 3and every spirit that doesn't (profess; declare) that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this spirit (not of God) is the spirit of the anti-Christs, of which you've heard would come and even now are already in the world. 4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them (anti-Christs), because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world; so they speak (from their source) and the worldly hear them. 6We are of God (our source). He that knows God hears us; he that isn't of God doesn't hear us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7Beloved, let us LOVE (each other); (because) LOVE is of God and everyone that LOVES is born of God and knows God. 8He that doesn't LOVE doesn't know God; (because) God is LOVE. 9It is in this that the LOVE of God was (made obvious) toward us: He sent His only (born) Son into the world so we might (have eternal) life through Him. 10(In this) is LOVE, nto that we LOVED God but that He LOVED us and sent His Son to (atone; fulfill the law) for our sins. 11Beloved, if God LOVED us so, (then) we, too, ought to LOVE (each other). 12No man has ever seen God. If we LOVE (each other) God dwells in us and His LOVE is (fully developed; matured) in us. 13By this we know that we dwell in Him and He in us because He has given us His Spirit. 14And we've seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15Whoever will confess Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God. 16And we've known and believed the LOVE that God has [in] us. God is LOVE and he that dwells in LOVE dwells in God and God in him. 17(In this) is our LOVE perfected, that we may have boldness in the day of jusdgment because (just) as He is, so are we in this world. 18There's no fear in LOVE (because) perfect LOVE casts out fear, because fear has (a penalty), punishment (and torment). (Note: some places in the Bible say "Fear God" which usually translates "be in awe of; reverence" and 'be aware of His mighty power'). He that fears isn't (fully developed; matured) in LOVE. 19We LOVE Him because He first LOVED us. 20Any man claiming to LOVE God but hates his brother is a liar; because he that doesn't LOVE a brother he can see, how could he lOVE God whom he can't see? 21And we have this commandment from Him, that he who LOVES God also LOVES his brother.
51Whoever believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and everyone that LOVES Him that (bore) (the Son) LOVES also Him tht was (born) of Him. 2By this we know that we LOVE the children of God, when we LOVE God and keep His (command that we LOVE one another). 3For this is the LOVE of God, that we keep His (instructions) and His (instructions) are not (too heavy or grievous). 4(Because) whatever is born of God overcomes the world and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith. 5Who is he that overcomes the world? He that believes Jesus is the Son of God. 6This is He, Jesus Christ, who came by water and blood, not just by water but water and blood. And it's the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one. 8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, the water and the blood and these three are one.
9If we receive the witness of men, (remember) the witness of God is greater; (and) this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself; he that doesn't believe God has made (God) a liar because he doesn't believe the record that God gave of His Son. 11And this is the record that God has given to us, eternal life and this (eternal) life is in His Son. 12He that has the Son has life; and he that doesn't have the Son doesn't have life. 13I have written these things to you that believe on the name of the Son of God, so you'll know you have eternal life and that you will believe on the name of the Son of God. 14And this is the confidence (boldness) we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will (Galatians 1:4; Ephesians 1:5,11), He hears us; 15And if we know He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have (every) petition that we desire of Him. 16If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he may (petition; use intercessory prayer) and he will give him life for them that (do not remain in unbelief). There is a sin unto death (unbelief); I don't say (you can't make the request). 17There is sin not unto death, all unrighteousness is sin. 18We know that whoever is born of God (doesn't see death) (isn't in unbelief) and he that is born of God keeps himself and the wicked one can't touch him. 19And we know that we've of God and the whole world lies in wickedness. 20And we know the Son of God is come and has given us understanding, that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him that is true, His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 21Little children, keep yourselves from idols (sin of unbelief and unto death follows idol worship). Amen.
