Ephesians chapters 4-6

41[So] I, (a) prisoner (in Christ), [beg] that you walk worthy of the (calling) to which you are called, 2with all lowliness (counting others better than himself) and meekness (gentle humility) with (patience), (bear up) one another in LOVE, 3[strive] to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4There is one body and one Spirit, (just as) you are called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and one Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all of you.

7Yet, according to the measure of the gift of Christ, to (each one) of us is given grace. 8(As), He said, when He ascended on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men. (Ps.68:18). 9(Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first in to the lower parts of the earth? 10He that descended is also the same that ascended far up above all heavens, that He might fill all things). 11And He gave some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, 12for the (mending, like mending what is not properly functioning) of the saints (Christians) for the work of the ministry and the edifying (building and improving) of the body of Christ (All Christians every where), 13Until we all (attain)(harmony) of the faith and of the (full) knowledge of the Son of God, to a (complete) man, to the measure of stature of the fullness of Christ; 14that from now on we don't (behave) as children tossed to and fro, carried (from one) doctrine (to another), like being tossed by the wind,, by the sleight (of hand: like the shell and pea game) and the cunning craftiness by which they lie in wait to deceive (listening to men and not to God); 15but speaking the truth IN LOVE, so you may grow up in Christ, who is the head, in ALL things; 16[Christ] from whom the whole body (of Christians) joined fitly together and compacted (solid harmony) by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes the body (grow), to the edifying of itself, IN LOVE.

LOVE AND GROWTH GO HAND IN HAND

17So, I say this and testify (solemnly declare) in the Lord, that (from now on) you don't walk like other Gentiles walk, in the (futility) of their (reasonings), 18having (their) understanding darkened (without enlightenment) being alienated from the life of God (that God bestows) through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness (and hardening) of their heart (no love); 19who, being past feeling, have given themselves over (completely surrendered to) [lawlessness; insolence; wantonness] to work all uncleanness in greediness.

20But this is not what you learn (in) Christ, 21if it was Him you heard and you were taught BY HIM, since the truth is in Jesus: 22that you (shed) your former life, the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts, 23and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24putting on the new man, which (in the likeness) of God, is created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

25(So), put away (shed) lying, every man speak the truth with his neighbor; because we are all (members of the same body). 26Be ye angry (righteous anger is commanded) and don't sin; don't let the sun go down upon our wrath (don't harbor it); 27nor give place to the devil (revenge). 28Let him that stole steal no more, but, (instead) let him labor, working with his hands to create good things so he will be able to share with those in need. 29Let no corrupt (talking come) out of your mouth, only talk that can be used for the edifying and minister GRACE to the hearers.

30And don't grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you are sealed to the day of redemption. 31Put away from you, with all (intentional purpose), all bitterness, angry passions, [violent outbursts, brawling] and evil speaking; 32be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, just as God, for Christ's sake, has forgiven you.

51(So) be followers (imitaters) of God, as beloved children; 2and walk in LOVE as Christ also LOVED us and has given Himself as an offering for us, a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. 3However fornication (idolatry; adultry; sexual perversions), uncleanness (impure; demonic), nor coveteousness (shouldn't be accused of any of you) as becomes (Christian behavior); 4Nor (obscenities), nor foolish talking (contentions)(Titus 3:9), nor jesting (offending and claiming it's all in fun)(Prov.26:19) which are not fitting but instead give thanks (do all things unto Christ giving thanks to God-Colossians 3:27). 5Because, as you know, no fornicator, unclean person, nor coveteous man (whose an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6Don't let any man deceive you with vain words (plausible lies); because these things bring the wrath of God on to the son's of disobedience (unbelievers). 7Don't you become like them and be partakers in their punishment. 8You were once (unbelievers) (walking in) darkness, (however), now, you are the light in the Lord (and should) walk as children of the light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and (impartial justice) and truth), 10Proving what is acceptable to the Lord (Romans 12:1-2).

11Have no (partaking) with works (that bring no blessing) but rather [prove] (by reasoning; convince; bring into the light)(these works). 12Because it's a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13All things (when they) are reproved are made (obvious) by the light, everything that is brought (out of darkness is revealed) made obvious is light. 14(So) He said, "Awake you that sleep and arise from the dead (your dead life) and Christ will give you light (shine upon you)" (Isaiah 60:1). 15See, then, that you walk [carefully] not as fools but as (the) wise, 16[take advantage of] the time because the days are evil. 17(So) don't be unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18Don't get drunk on wine, which is (drinking) to excess, but (rather) be filled with the Spirit, 19speak one to another in Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody, in your heart(s) to the Lord, 20always giving thanks for all things, to God, the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21(yielding) yourselves one to another in (awe and reverence) of God.

22Wives, (yield) yourselves, unto your own husbands, (as you would) to the Lord. 23Because the husband is the head of the wife (like) Christ is the head of the church and He is the savior of the body. 24(So) as the church is (yielded) unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

If the church isn't yielded to Christ how is the wife to learn by this example?

25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and sacrificed Himself for it, 26that He might sanctify it, [having] cleansed it with the washing of water, [with] the word; 27that He might present it to Himself a glorious [true] church (a faithful pure bride), not (defiled) nor wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28(So) man ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. 29Because no man, as yet, hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, (just) as the Lord does the church; 30because we are ministers of His body, HIs flesh, His bones. 31For this reason will a man leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife and the two will (become) one flesh. 32This mystery is great but I speak (regarding) Christ and the (body of Christians)(the bride); 33(anyway), let everyone of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife, see that she reverence her husband.

61Children, obey your parents in the Lord because this is right. 2Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise-Matt 15:4), 3that it may be well with you and you'll live long on the earth. 4And you fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition (train; educate; discipline) of the Lord. 5Servants, obey your (human) masters, with self-distrust of your own deceitful hearts wanting to be high minded, in [simplicity] of your heart, as you do serve Christ; 6not with eye service (probably what we now call lip-service) as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the HEART, 7with goodwill doing service as though you were doing it unto the Lord and not to men, 8knowing that whatever good thing any man does he will receive the same of the Lord whether he is a slave (indebted) or free man. 9And you masters (employers; lenders; etc.), do the same things to them, [desist from] threatening; knowing you too have a master in heaven; and there is no respect of persons with Him.

10Finally my Brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12We do not wrestle against flesh and blood (men), but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13(So) take up the whole armor of God so you may be able to [resist] in the evil day and have done (everything) (crisis demands). 14[Resist] having your loins girded about with truth and have on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you'll be able to quench all the firey darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the spirit and watching (for occasion to, and maintaining a spirit of) prayer, with all perseverance and supplication (urgent prayer) for all the saints; 19for me, pray that utterance may be given to me that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in (prison); that in this I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.

21But so that you also can know my affairs and how I am, Tichicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will let you know all this; 22as I've sent him to you for the purpose of knowing my affairs and that he might comfort your hearts.

23Peace be to the brethren and LOVE with faith, from God, the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ
24Grace be to all those that sincerely LOVE our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
