Hebrews Chapter 6-9

61(So) leaving the (elementary truths) of the (teachings) of Christ, let us go on to (fulfillment and completion) and of faith toward God, not laying again the foundation of (guilt and regret) from dead works (past sins), 2(Note: to grow you need to study the following thoroughly) doctrines of Baptisms, laying on of hands, (the) resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment, 3and we'll do this if God permit. 4Because it is impossible for those who've once been enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift, making them partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6if they (should) [back-slide], to renew again (regret for old sin) and (re-crucify) Christ again and again and (expose Him to public disgrace).

7(Note: example of inevitable reward and punishment) (Just as) the earth drinks in rain that comes upon it often and brings forth herbs fit for them by whom it is [cultivated] receives blessings from God; 8but that which bears thorns and briers is rejected and is near to cursing, whose end is to be burned.

9(However), beloved, we (believe) better things of you, things that hold to salvation, although we speak (this way). 10(because) God is not unrighteous (unfair) to forget your work and labor of love which you've shown toward His Name as you have, and still do, minister to the saints. 11And we desire (earnestly) that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance (complete faith) of hope to the end; 12that you won't be (lazy; idle) but followers of them who inherit the promises through faith and patience. 13When God made (the) promise to Abraham, because He couldn't swear by (any) greater, He swore by Himself, 14Saying, "Surely, blessing I will bless thee and multiplying I will multiply thee". 15And so after he'd endured patiently, he obtained the promise.

16Men swear by (whatever is) the greater and an oath for (final) confirmation is the (seal on a peace treaty). 17(So) God, more abundantly willing to show to the heirs of promise the (unchangeable; stability) of His councel, (did) confirm it by an oath, 18that by two (unchangeable; stable) things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we'd have strong (encouragement), who've fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us, 19(the) hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both (dependable and firmly fixed) which enters into the (inner sanctuary), 20where the forerunner for us is entered, Jesus, (who is) made a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

71For this Melchizedek, King of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him, 2(and) Abraham gave him a 10th part of all; (he was) first, by interpretation, King of Righteousness (and) after that King of Salem (which means) King of Peace; 3(Note: all priest were from Aaron's lineage) without father, mother or (any record of parentage), no history of his (Melchizedek's) birth or death, but made like unto the Son of God, abides a priest continually.

4Consider now how great this man was, event eh patriarch, Abraham, gave him a 10th of the spoils. 5And (unquestionably), the sons of Levi, who (became priests) have a command to take tithes of the people according to the law (even though they are descendants of a common ancestor with) Abraham; 6But [Melchizedek] not counted as a descendant, received tithes from Abraham and blessed [Abraham] who had (received the divine) promises. 7(A principle) without question "The less who is blessed, and the greater who blesses". 8And here men that (pass away-die-and are succeeded by others) receive tithes; but there (in the case of Melchizedek) he receives them (who doesn't die and his office isn't passed to another). 9And (so to speak) Levi also, who received tithes paid tithes (through) Abraham, 10because Levi (hadn't yet been born), when Melchizedek met (Abraham).

Note (summing up): Melchizedek was greater than Abraham, greater than Abraham's descendants including the tribe the of Levi. Receiving the gift of tithe, Melchizedek bestows a blessing on Abraham, who accepted it, thereby signifying Melchizedek's authority.

11(So) if perfection were (possible) by the Levitical Priesthood (living under the laws) why was there a need for another Priest after the order of Melchizedek and not from Aaron's order (Levitical lineage)? 12Because the priesthood being (transferred) made it necessary to also change the (Mosaic) law. 13(As) he of whom these things are spoken pertains to (a different) tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the alter. 14(So) it's [obvious] our Lord sprang out of Judah, a tribe Moses didn't (mention) concerning priesthood. 15Yet it's far more [obvious]; because after the (likeness) of Melchizedek there arose another Priest, 16who isn't made after the (standard, Mosaic) law of [flesh and death] but after a power of (eternal) life. (Note: the Levitical Priests died, too, under the Mosaic law.) 17For He testified, "Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek". 18(Since) there is truly (is) a (voiding; doing away with) the (law)(because)(it couldn't save us). 19Because the law (couldn't) make anything perfect, but the (coming) of a better hope did, which brings us (into an intimate fellowship) with God. 20And (in view of the fact) He was made High Priest with and oath 21(Because those priests were made without and oath, and this was the oath by Him who said to Him, "The Lord swore and won't repent, Thou are priest forever after the order of Melchizedek).(Ps 110:4). 22By so much was Jesus made a [pledge] of a better covenant (promise). 23Where there were many priests in succession each dying off; 24this man (Jesus) because He is (eternal) has an unchangeable priesthood. 25(So) He is able to save (completely and perfectly) them who came to God by Him, seeing He lives forever to make intercession for them.

26(As) such a High Priest was fitting for us who are holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from (unbelievers) and made higher than the heavens; 27who doesn't have to offer up sacrifices daily as did those high priests, first for his own and then for the people's (sins); because He did this one time when He offered up (sacrificed) Himself. 28The law makes (weak) high priests but the oath of promise, which came after the law, (establishes) the Son who is (completed; perfected) for evermore.

81Now to sum up what we've been about; we have a High Priest seated on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2a minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle (Hebrews 9:11,24) which the Lord pitched (fixed into place) and not man. 3Because every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; so it's necessary that this man have something to offer also. (Hebrews 9:24-28)(the sacrifice of Himself). 4Because if He were on earth He wouldn't be a priest, (there are already) priests that offer gifts according to the law, 5who serve (being an) example and shadow(y copy) of heavenly things, as Moses was (warned; cautioned; reminded) (by) God when he was about to make the tabernacle; for, "See, said, (God), that you make all things according to the pattern shown to you in the mount". 6But now (Jesus) has obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He's the mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

7(Because) if that first covenant (obedience to Mosaic law) had been [without] fault then no place would have been sought for a second (covenant). 8For finding fault with them, He said, "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; 9not according to the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they (broke) my convenant, and I didn't regard them, said the Lord. 10For this the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the Lord: I will put my laws in their mind, and write them in their HEARTS; and I'll be to them a God and they'll be to me a people. 11And every man won't teach his neighbor or his brother saying, 'know the Lord'; for all will know me from the least to the greatest. 12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." 13God, in saying, a new covenant has made the first (covenant) old. And that which grows old and decays soon vanishes away.

91Then, (unquestionably) the first covenant also had ordinances (adopted for) divine service and a sanctuary of this world. 2(Because) there was a tabernacle made; the first, having the lampstand, the table, and the showbread; which is called sanctuary. 3And after the 2nd veil (the Holy of Holies) the tabernacle, which is called the Holiest of all, 4which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid (all around) with gold, in which was the golden pot that had manna, Aaron's rod that budded and the table so the covenant (10 commandments); 5and over it the cherubim of glory (their) shadow (covering) the mercy seat; of which we can't now (tell) (the details). 6The priests always went into the first tabernacle when these things were (in this manner), prepared, accomplishing the service of God. 7(However), into the 2nd the high priest went alone, once every year with blood which he offered for himself and the errors of the people, 8(in this manner) the Holy Spirit signifying that the way into the Holiest of all was not yet made manifiest, while the first tabernacle (covenant) was yet standing; 9which was a (symbol) for (that) present time, in which both gifts and sacrifices were offered that couldn't make him that (performed) the service (clean) having the inability to deal with the conscience. 10(According) to which stood only in food, drink and various washings and [trying to obey the law in the flesh](being a burden) on them until the (correction; amendment).

11But Christ becoming our High Priest of good things (that have) come (to pass) by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, (meaning) not of (worldly creation), 12(nor) by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13(Because) if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the (point of) purifying the flesh, 14how much more will the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge (cleanse) your conscience of (past sins) to serve the Living God? 15And for this (reason) He is the mediator of the new testament (contract; covenant), that (through His) death, (we are) redeemed of transgressions that (we were) under by the first (covenant), might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16For where a (last will and) testament is, it's necessary that the (one who made the will) be dead. 17For (it) is only in (force) after the man's dead; it has no power at all while the (maker of the will) is alive. 18(On this basis), neither the first (covenant) was dedicated without blood. 19(Even) when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the book and all the people, 20saying, "THis is the blood of the testament which God has enjoined to you". 21He (also) sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22And almost all things are by the law, purged with blood and where no blood is shed, there can be no remission (forgiveness of sin).

23So, it was necessary that the (Levitical sanctuary) symbolizing the heavenly, be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24(Because) Christ hasn't entered into the holy places made with hands, which are (mere representations) of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God (the true Holy of Holies) for us; 25Nor, does He offer Himself (enter into) often, as did the high priest enter into the holy place every year with the blood of (for) others; 26(in that case) He'd have to suffer often, (even) since the foundation of the world. But now, in the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself one time. 27And it's appointed to men once to die and after this the judgment, 28so, Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and to those that look for Him He will appear the second time (apart from the) sin (of death) to (rescue; save; deliver).
