Proverbs Women's Gifs

Noah was born into a strange time in earths history...Genesis chapter 6.

There was a large population (verse 1)and the population even included the fallen angels who were, undoubtedly, worshiped as Gods. (verse 2-4)

Men became so corrupt and wicked that God was actually sorry he created them and decided to destroy, not only men, but everything man touched and corrupted. (verse 5-7,11,12)

However, one man, Noah, found favor and kindness with God because in Noah's generations he was just, [upright; sincere] and walked with God. A believer. (verse 8-9)

When Noah's father, Lamech, died Noah was 500 years old and had 3 sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (verse 10; Gen. 5:32)

Since Noah "walked with God" (verse 9)he believed God when He told Noah He was going to flood the earth and kill everything that breathed. (verse 13-17)

Noah was to build and ark to God's specifications and bring his whole family and 2 of every living thing that was made of flesh. Also food for the animals and Noah's family. (verse 18-21)

And Noah set about to obey God. (verse 22)

Genesis Chapter 7

What a fearful time this must have been for Noah! God told Noah at one point that he only had 7 days till He caused it to rain 40 days and 40 nights, during which time the world in which Noah had lived for 600 years would be extinct. (verse 4-6)(Luke 17:26-27)

Noah entered the ark with his wife, 3 sons and 3 daughters in law. (verse 7-13)

Out of, what must have been, a great population covering the earth (verse 17-19)the only living things to be chosen would be Noah, his family and the animals on the ark to survive. (verse 21-23)

Genesis Chapter 8

After 150 days God made a wind to pass over the earth and the waters to subside and the waters were abated. (verse 1-3)

After another 5 months the ark rested on land (verse 4)and Noah and his family waited inside for the waters to dry up. (verse 5)

Finally after a year inside the ark (Gen.7:11; 8:14)and God told Noah to take his family and the animals and leave the ark. (verse 16-19)

After the family all settled in, Noah, being a man of God, offered burnt offerings to the Lord from among the already multiplying animals. (verse 20)

Genesis Chapter 9

God blessed Noah and his sons and told them to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth which they have done! (verse 1 and 19)

Noah turned to farming and planted a vineyard. The story goes that Noah got drunk on his own wine and took all his clothing off. (No one seems to be sure what this signified) but I think it is safe to surmise that Noah was having a hard time anyway. He had no living friends or peers, he must have been lonesome at times. He lived in a fresh new world without the technology and conveniences of the world he was born in. It would be like us waking to a fresh new world with no coffee pot, microwave, radio, phone, toilets, tubs, etc, and no way to get them. Since Noah's world before the flood was so much more advanced than ours it would probably be more difficult for Noah and his family to adjust than for us or our families.

Noah cursed his grandson, Canaan, for whatever his son Ham did. Saying God would enlarge Japheth and Shem would dwell in Japheth's tents and Canaan would be their servant. (verse 24-27)

Noah lived 350 years after the flood and was 950 years old when he died. (verse 29)

One can only surmise what Noah's life must have been like after the flood. And his wife and daughters in law must not have been happy campers either. Starting all over with nothing in what would amount to being the wilderness.
