1st Timothy

11From: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the [will] of God, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, who is our hope,
2To: Timothy, my own son in the faith: grace mercy and peace, from God, our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

3I (implored) you to (continue on) at Ephesus, when I went to Macedonia, that you might (instruct; command) some that they teach no other doctrine, 4(nor)(listen to)[rumors; sayings; stories-fiction] and endless [tracing of ancestors](leading to pride] which (serve only) to (create more) questions instead of Godly (instruction) which is in the faith. 5Now the end of the (law) is LOVE out of a pure HEART, and of good conscience, and of faith (genuine; real), 6from which some, having missed the mark (and) turned aside to (empty chatter), 7desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding what they're saying nor of what they speak so confidently. 8But we know the law is good, if a man uses it (properly), 9knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man (believers) but for the lawless and disobedient, the ungodly, (unrepentent) sinners, (the) unholy, profane, murderers of fathers and mothers, manslayers, 10fornicators, those that defile themselves with mankind, kidnappers, liars, (vow breakers) and any thing else contrary to (the word of God), 11the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12And I thank Christ Jesus, our Lord, who has enabled me (because) He counted me faithful, (appointing) me to the ministry, 13(when) before I was a blashemer, a persecuter (abusive; malicious; harmful); but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly (being an) unbeliever. 14And the grace of our Lord was (sufficiently loaded) with faith and LOVE which is in Christ Jesus. 15This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am (the biggest). 16(In spite of that) for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me Jesus Christ might (display; unconcealed)(His)(long patience under injury), for an (example) to them who should believe on Him to everlasting life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

18This (instruction; trust) I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophesies which [pointed to] you, that by them you might war a good warfare. 19Holding (fast to) faith and (with) a good conscience which some have [thrust from them] have (brought to ruin) concerning faith; 20I speak of Hymenaeus and Alexander of whom I delivered (into the hands of) satan so they'll learn not to blaspheme.

Note: Hymenaeus denied the faith. His heretical message claimed the resurrection of the dead was already past. His profane and vain babblings spread like cancer destroying the faith of believers. 1 Tim.1:19-20; 2 Tim.2:16-17. Alexander with Hymenaeus also suffered "shipwreck" of the faith and was delivered unto satan.

21(So) I (advise) that first of all, (zealous direct prayers), prayer (Luke 11:2-4), (prayers interceeding on behalf of others), and (giving thanks) be made for all men, 2for kings, for (everyone) in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty. 3(Because) this is good an acceptable in the sight of God, our Savior, 4who wills (a determined purpose) all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5(That) there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus, 6who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be witnessed in due time. 7For this I'm ordained (appointed) a preacher (truth bringer; herald) and an apostle (delegated ambassador), I speak the truth in Christ and don't lie, a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8(So) I (determine) that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without anger and (disputings; reasonings; questions; criticisms); 9women, (in the same prayerful attitude) also adorn themselves in modest (behavior) with (reverence) and (self-control) not with costly (outer adornment), 10(instead that) which becomes women (announcing)(they honor God) with good (behavior).

11Let the women learn (peaceable quietness) with (an attitude of obedience subject to all those over her). 12But I, (Paul) don't permit a woman to teach (men) or (dominate) him, but to be (peaceable and quiet). 13(Because) Adam was (created before) Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived (by satan) but by the woman and (both) being deceived (fell into sin). 15However, she will be (spared; redeemed) in child (rearing; parentage)(Prov.31:28) if they continue in the faith, LOVE and holiness with self control.

31This is a true saying, "If a man (seeks) the office of a Bishop (overseer) he desires a good (office among brethren). 2A Bishop then must be (without reproach)(having been) the husband of (only) one wife, (moderate; restrained)(self-controlled) of good behavior; given to hospitality; (able) to teach (if the need should rise); 3not given to drinking alcohol, violence, not greedy (for wealth), but patient, not a brawler, nor (desiring what others have; grasping); 4(who) rules his own house well, having children (that are obedient) with all (responsibility) 5((because) if a man doesn't know how to [lead] his own house, how will he [lead] the church of God?); 6not being (a new convert)(in case) he (becomes) prideful and falls into condemnation of the devil. 7(Also) he must have a good (reference from) them who are (unbelievers)(preventing outside accusations trumped up by) the devil.

8Deacons, also, must (be honorable) not (saying one thing and meaning another) nor given to (drinking alcohol) nor greedy (for wealth), 9holding the mysteries of the faith in a pure conscience. 10And let them both be examined by the community) then let (them)(fill) the office being found (to be unaccused). 11Also their wives must (not) be [frivolous], slanderous, (but) [sedate; circumspect] and and trustworthy in all things. 12Let the deacons also have been the husband of (only) one wife, [ruling; supporting; presiding over] their own children and houses well. 13For they that [serve] the office of a deacon [honestly][acquire] to themselves a good [rank] and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

14I write then things to you hoping to come to you shortly; 15But if I take to long, you may know how you (should) behave in the house of God, which is the church of the Living God, the [immovable support] of the truth 16and without controvery, [weighty; important] is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the nations, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

41Now the Spirit speaks in [direct terms] that, (in the future) some will depart from the faith, giving [notice; attention; regard; listening] to seducing spirits and [teachings] (that come from) demons, 2speaking lies (through deception to gain their own ends), (not acting under delusion, but deliberately against their own conscience), 3forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from food which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are believers and know the truth. 4For every creature (or creation) of God is good and nothing is to be (thrown away) if it is received with thanksgiving; 5(because) it is sanctified (made holy) by the Word of God and prayer. 6If you bring If you bring these things into the rememberance of the brethren, you will be a good minister (teacher) of Jesus Christ, (well fed) in the words of faith and of good [instruction] into which you've [closely followed]. 7However, [protest][wicked heathen fables] and old wives (tales) and (practice) yourself (your profession)(instead) unto godliness. 8(Because) exercising the body (has some benefit) but (exercising) godliness is beneficial in all things, (since it has) promise in this life and the life hereafter.

9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. 10[To this end] we both work (struggle) and (strive) suffer [disgrace; rebuke; censure; scorn], because we trust in the Living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.

11Teach and command these things. 12(So) no man (can hold) your youth in [contempt], you be an example of the believers in word, conduct, LOVE, spirit, faith and purity. 13Till I come, [be willing to present] read [out loud], to [excite and urge to good deeds], to [teach the truth]. 14Don't neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophesy, with the laying on of the hands of the [order of elders and seniors]. 15Meditate on these things; (throw) yourself wholly into them that your [progress] may (shine before) all. 16[Fasten your attention] to (the betterment of self) and the doctrine (teachings of Christ); (stay) in them; (because) in doing this you will both save yourself and those that hear you.

51Don't rebuke an elder, but (appeal; advise) him s a father; and the younger men as brethren; 2the elder women, as mothers; the younger (women), as sisters, with all purity. 3Honor (value) widows that are widows (absolutely bereaved without any descendants). 4But if any widow have children or (grandsons; descendants) let (the descendants) learn (in the first place, obligation and) to show (respect; love; duty) at home, and to (recompense) their parents; for that is good and acceptable before God. 5Now she that is a widow (absolutely bereaved without descendants) and desolate, trust in God, and continue in (zealous direct prayer) and prayers (luke 11:2-4) night and day. 6But she that lives in pleasure is (spiritually and everlastingly dead) while she is (yet living). 7And these things command that they may be blameless. 8However, if any provide not for his own, and especially those of his own (family), he has denied the faith, and is worse than an (unbeliever). 9Don't [include among] the widows (those) under 60 years old, (and over those over 60) having been the wife of (only) one man, 10well, (attested) for good [deeds of all kinds], if she has raised children, if she has lodged stranger, (showed honor, submission and servitude) to the saints, if she has relieved (with strength of character) (those) suffering tribulations), if she has (painstakingly) followed every good (behavior that is befitting a woman of Jesus Christ). 11But the younger widows (decline); (because) when [their sexual impulses run riot](directing them toward sensual pleasure) against Christ, they will(fully determine) to marry (again), 12[living under] condemnation, because they have (set aside) their first [LOVE], Jesus Christ. 13And they also learn to be idle, wandering abut from house to house; and not only idle but also tattlers and busy bodies speaking things which they shouldn't. 14(So) I [determine] that the younger women marry, bear children, (guide) the house, (and) give [opportunity] to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15(Because) some are already turned (and follow after) satan. 16If any man or woman that believes has widows, let them (be strong enough to assist, help) them and don't let the church be (under obligation) (so) that (the church) may (be strong enough to assist, help) the widows (that are without descendants).

17Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who [work hard] in the word and teaching (truth). 18(Because) the scripture says, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain"; and "The laborer is worthy of his reward." 19Against and elder don't receive and accusation, (unless) their are 2 or 3 witnesses (to testify). 20(Elders) that sin rebuke before all, that others may (respect the rules).

21I (lay this responsibility on) you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels, that you observe these things without preferring one before the other (without prejudice), doing nothing by (favoritism). 22Lay hands on no man (hastily) nor be partaker in another man's sin (condoning their sin); keep yourself pure. 23Don't (be exclusively) a water drinker but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities. 24Some men's sins are (obvious to all), going before the judgment (seat); and some men's (sins) follow after (to the day of judgment). 25Also in the (same way) the good [deeds] of some are manifest (at the judgment seat) before hand; and they that are (not manifest) cannot be [entirely concealed].

61Let as many servants as are under the yoke (of bond-servant) count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and His [teachings] be not blasphemed (spoken evil of). 2And they that have believing masters (employers), let them not despise them because they are brethren but, (instead) do them service because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and [encourage]. 3If any man teach otherwise, and doesn't consent to the wholesome words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the [true teaching] which is according to godliness, 4he is proud, knowing nothing, but sick (with) questions and (arguing) of words, of which (causes) envy, strife, railings, evil suspicions, 5perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, (assuming) godliness is a way of gain; from such withdraw yourself. 6(However) godliness with (inner) contentment is great gain; 7We brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and (clothes) let us be content with that. 9(However) they that (determine) to be rich fall into temptation, a trap and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and (waste) [even to their own souls]. 10(Because) the love of money is the root of all evil, which, some (desiring) and lusting after it have [been led astray] from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11But you, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, LOVE, patience, and meekness. 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called and have professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13I (lay this responsibility on) you in the sight of God, who makes all things alive (preserves) and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate (was a true and faithful) witness (of His) good confession, 14that you keep this (gospel of divine conduct) without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ; 15which in His own [season] He will show who is the blessed and only potentate, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords; 16who is the only immortal dwelling in the light which no man can approach; whom no man has seen, nor can see; to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen. 17(Make liable) them that are rich in this (world), that they be not (elevated in their own minds), nor trust in uncertain riches but in the Living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; 18that they do good, and be rich in good [deeds], ready to distribute and share, 19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to your trust, avoid [wicked] and [empty] babblings amd opposition of [falsely named] knowledge, 21which some, (do profess), (and) have erred concerning the faith. Grace be to you. Amen.

2nd Timothy
